Christiana Design is owned and operated by Dorothea Vincent. She is a professional Home Economist/Human Ecologist who graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science degree, specializing in Clothing and Textiles.

Dorothea is a designer and an educator by heart and soul.  She designs original art work creations with her medium being fabric.  She does fabric manipulations, embroidery concepts and fashion designs.  Teaching is something that she is very passionate about and has students across the western provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, through a variety of different venues.

Her more recent design work includes inspiring fashion designers by having her agent in New York City present Dorothea's work to NY fashion houses.  She has also designed and created a gown for Jenn Beaupre's performance (singer and song writer) at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver.

Dorothea's current teaching includes topics from baking, sewing with different techniques, cooking, designing with software for embroidery machines, table setting, beading and ribbon work for embellishing garments, table etiquette, making french lace with a sewing machine, table decor to emroidery design.  If you would like her to teach a class, please don't hesitate to contact her.

Her experience includes:

-designing wedding gowns and managing her own wedding-dress company

-designing and manufacturing European-styled table linens

-selecting garments and accessorizing news anchors

-teaching embroidery, digitizing, sewing, baking, cooking, and meal entertaining

-guest speaker at the University of Alberta

Dorothea's work has been featured in newspapers, fashion shows, teaching classes, retail stores, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, as well as web based information sites.  She started designing and sewing when she was 6 years old.  Currently, she works out of her studio on Vancouver Island and in Sherwood Park, Alberta.  Her European heritage brings forth quality, elegance and simplicity to each creation.
